Egypt's Democracy becomes a real problem for the US Congress

The United States has supported the dictatorship of Egypt's Husni Mubarak for three decades mainly to use him to oppress any public opposition to American foreign policy and to eliminate any Egyptian pressure on Israel to compromise with the Palestinians. But the United States has also used Egypt as a place where prisoners could be taken outside of American "laws" and tortured to extract desired confessions. Thousands of prisoners have been tortured over the years as a part of America's political war on terrorism.

Democracy is great, but not for the rest of the world. America prefers to have autocracies that do what America asks them to do.
